Your journey begins at Yapahuwa, the brief capital of mediaeval Sri Lanka. Among the most notable historical locations are Minnariya National Park, where large herds of elephants gather, and Ritigala, a former monastery where serenity is still predominant.

Hiriwaduna allows travellers to get acquainted with Sri Lanka’s vibrant culture and way of life. The amazing historical sites are Sigiriya Rock Fortress and Dambulla Cave Temple. A visit to the spice garden in Matale, Udawattakele, a forest reserve on the hilltop of Kandy, and the city of Kandy, the location of the Buddha’s Sacred Tooth Relic.

A brief rail journey from Bandarawela to Kandy through breathtaking scenery. The next stop on your itinerary is Kalutara, where you can see one of Sri Lanka’s oldest bodhi trees and enjoy the breathtaking views from the ancient Buddhist temple adjacent to the river.

Day 1

Colombo

On your arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, our personal guide will assist you to the vehicle. Transfer from Airport to the hotel (Negombo / Colombo). Dinner and overnight stay in a standard, superior, deluxe, or luxury hotel.
Breakfast at the hotel and proceed to Yapahuwa Yapahuwa One of the brief capitals of mediaeval Sri Lanka was Yapahuwa. Yapahuwa’s castle was My Vacation Sri Lankaconstructed around a massive granite boulder that rose above the nearby plains. With the Sacred Tooth Relic in tow, King Bhuvenakabahu moved the capital from Polonnaruwa to Yapahuwa in 1272. Subsequently, Yapahuwa was mostly deserted and occupied by ascetic Buddhist monks. After the activity, proceed to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in a standard, superior, deluxe, or luxury hotel.

Minneriya & Ritigala

After breakfast, visit Minneriya National Park, known for its wildlife and the ancient Minneriya tank, which supports elephants and bird nesting. Continue to Ritigala, an ancient Buddhist monastery with remains dating to the first century BC. Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast, visit Hiriwadunna to explore Sri Lankan culture, traveling by ferry and bullock cart through paddy fields. Enjoy a traditional meal with locals, ending with a Tuk-Tuk ride. Continue to Dambulla, a world heritage site with a first-century BC Buddhist cave complex and stunning murals. Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Sigiriya & Matale

After breakfast, visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO site known for its murals, "Mirror Wall," and King Kasyapa's historic stronghold. Continue to Matale to explore spice gardens and the aromatic spices like cinnamon and cardamom. Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast, visit Udawattakele Forest Reserve, known for its diverse birds and wildlife. Continue to Kandy to explore key landmarks like the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, and the vibrant Kandy Esala Perahera. Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Train Ride To Bandarawela

Enjoy a scenic train ride through misty hills, passing tea plantations, tunnels, waterfalls, and other stunning locations in the hill country. Upon arrival at Bandarawela train station, you will be picked up and transferred to the hotel. After breakfast, relax with dinner and an overnight stay in a standard, superior, deluxe, or luxury hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, head to Kalutara, a coastal town known for its golden beaches and the sacred Kalutara Bodhiya. Explore the Kalutara Vihara and enjoy the local markets and serene beach views. Return to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay in a standard, superior, deluxe, or luxury accommodation.

After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a leisurely stay. Visit the historic Kalutara Buddhist temple, located by the river, home to one of Sri Lanka’s oldest bodhi trees and offering breathtaking views.
